Open Broadcaster Software

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free and open source software used to record and/or live stream. It has support for Twitch and YouTube live streaming with the ability to automatically connecting the account of such service directly in OBS. OBS can be used for broadcasting to other services as well as RTMP servers.

  1. The Profile Menu can be used to create new profiles to broadcast on different platforms for example
  2. Scene Collection is used to manage different scene profiles so that you can organize your stream better. A scene collection is a collection of all the screnes that are accessible together. Like a folder containing many files.
  3. This is the canvas where sources can be added and moved. It shows what the viewers can see
  4. The Scene menu allows to create different scenes for the stream.
  5. Source are the list of sources on a scene. Note that scenes can also be used as sources created “nested scenes” to create complex and uniform scene configurations.
  6. The audio mixer will list all the audio available for any given scene. Volumes can be changed there
  7. The transition configurator can be used to create transitions between scenes and such.
  8. This section contains the buttons for going live and recording as well as the button to access OBS's settings.
